Running 101:
First Steps for Beginning Runners

Have you always wanted to run but are not sure how to get started? Are you returning to running after a long lay-off or injury? If so, First Steps Beginning Running is the program for you. First Steps Beginning Running is a 12 week program. The program begins with a series of run/walk workouts and builds up to running an entire 5k race of your choice.
Runners participating in the program will receive the following:

  • Twice weekly coached group workouts.
  • A detailed training schedule outlining workouts for each day of the week.
  • Educational materials designed to provide runners with answers to common questions/concerns for beginner runners. Topics will include shoe selection, injury prevention, running form and technique, stretching, core strength and nutrition.

Upcoming Sessions:

Session II - April 19 - July 10 (12 week program $275 or $225 for TRS Club Members).

Session III - July 12 - October 30 (16 week program $345 or $295 for TRS Club Members)

Group workouts will be held on Monday evenings at 7:00 PM at Marsteller Middle School in Bristow and Saturday morning at 7:30 AM. Saturday morning locations will rotate between various courses in Gainesville, Bristow, the Manassas Battlefield, the W&OD Trail and Burke Lake.
