We understand that there are several reasons for people looking for professional training. Some want to run faster. Some just want direction and guideance to make running a healthy and lasting part of their daily life. Whatever your motivation is, we have some of the top coaches and runners to help you accomplish your goals.

Mary Davison

Mary DavisonMary is a dedicated runner and coach who loves the sport of running and helping others to achieve their personal health and fitness goals. She is a certified running coach through the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and a certified Health and Fitness Specialist/Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Mary was a competitive gymnast from childhood through college. After graduating from college at Virginia Tech, Mary retired from gymnastics and began running to maintain fitness and keep in shape. The dedication and determination she learned as a child through gymnastics quickly drove to her success as a competitive runner.

Mary is a top local runner. In 2008, she was ranked as the 4th sub-master’s women (ages 35-39) by the Washington Running Report. She holds personal best times of 18:15 for the 5k, 29:45 for the 8k, 37:38 for the 10k, 1:03:01 for 10 miles, 1:24:42 for the ½ marathon and 3:01:36 for the marathon.

Mary resides in Bristow, Virginia with her husband, Eric, and two boys ages 5 and 3.

Ian Connor

Ian Connor As a coach and athlete, Connor strikes a unique balance of hard work, competitive drive and the ability to make workouts a fun and rewarding experieince. Connor has guided a number of All-State and All-American athletes, and has garnered numerous individual honors. He truly loves his time away from the rigors of managing The Running Store to help the many adult runners in the area looking to improve their times or just get together to share their love of exercise with others. Ian is the director of the Adult Running Club, and the head coach of our adult professional training program. Ian brings a wealth of knowledge to our team having had a superb collegiate and professional career including:
         • Member of Team USA at World Cross Country Championships
         • Two-time Olympic Trials Qualifier
         • Six-time Big Ten Champion (Indoor/Outdoor Track)
         • Six-time All-American (Indoor/Outdoor Track & Cross Country)
         • NCAA Runner-up (Steeplechase)
         • Recorded several sub four-minute miles


Sherri Mitchell

Sherri is a multi-sport athlete who participates in a wide range of activities. She didn't begin running until 2005 but fell in love with the sport after her first half-marathon in 2006. Since then she has continued to push her endurance, completing distances up to and including the marathon, and has also branched out in to adventure races and triathlons. To date, her greatest triathlon accomplishment was completing the Patriots Half Ironman triathlon (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) in the summer of 2009.

Sherri received her masters degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion and enjoys working with athletes of all abilities. She is a NASE certified Speed and Explosion Expert and a NASM certified Performance Enhancement Specialist. Sherri resides in Gainesville with her son and dog, but escapes to outdoor adventures every chance she gets!

Alisa Harvey

Alisa is a world-renowned coach and athlete. As a mother of two, she understands the challenge of juggling family and exercise, and continues to guide runners of all ages and abilities to meet their individual goals. Alisa is the Assistant Head Coach of the Youth Track Program and Professional Training Program. Her knowledge and abilities in the sport of running as well as her passion for working with runners of all ages and abilities is a key component to the success of the TRS Running Club. Her individual accomplishments as a runner include:
         • US Track & Field Masters Athlete of the Year (2007)
         • Four-time Olympic Trials Qualifier
         • Holds masters (over 40) world record in mile and several US Masters records
         • Four-time Army 10-miler champion
         • Personal best 2:49.25 marathon (Richmod)
          • Former NCAA 1500m champion

Adam Daniels

Adam Daniels As a competitive runner and professional coach, Adam focuses on the joy that comes through accomplishing personal goals. Adam believes all runners can achieve their goals by balancing the hard work and the joy of runing through quality mileage. Adam used these principles well in guiding several all-state runners through their high school career and in his own runnign career, which includes:
         • Two Marine Corps marathons, with a personal best 14th place finish of 2:35
         • NCAA Qualifier in the Steeplechase
         • Two-time Big East Champian (indoor/outdoor track)
         • Two-tiem IC4A Runner-up (outdoor track)
